Bob Pepper;s advice for well trained birds!

Bob Pepper, the top class breeder and judge, is sharing his tips for a well trained bird, as he used to say,"Trained birds can win. Untrained birds NEVER"

"I start training. The baby at 5 weeks old Lower the top perch Down. So all 3 perches in the showcage same level     Hang. The cage on the stock cage Let them. Run in and out for a week or so       Then. Raise the. Middle perch. To normal position      Now you can. Lift off the stockcage. And stand a few out.    On the training bench slowly use your hands to incourage the bird to stay on the top perch       Our aim is to have the birds. Properly trained     . By that i mean. The bird. Will stand on the top perch. And dont move when you put your hand near like a judge would at a show      ALL this must be done BEFORE. They start the moult not after thats 6 months to late when the birds start the moult   Leave the showcage on the stock cage. Dont lift off untill they nearly. Finished the moult        When they have Lift off. And. Continue to train every day. For 15 min .       They HAVE to stand. Still. To have ANY chance of winning out ain. Is to have the bird totally relaxed not frightend         it is very important, after 7 weeks. Cage them. Single cage each bird        then you will see them at there best And YOU will. Get more pleasure looking at your birds .     When i was in turkey last year there was some. Real good birds. Not trained.      You cant judge them        Remember this"....  .      All the best my friend. Bob
