A mixture of herbs for a better Eggfood!

The last years, all the breeders are trying to find ways to make their eggfood  richer than the normal. The easiest way is to buy some supplements from the pet-shops.Many companies are offering very good products,full of vitamins,calcium, aminoacids ets. I prefer a mix from Herbs directly from the Greek nature that provide the best for my birds. You can find these herbs free in the nature or you can buy them.
The first herb is.....


Nettle
A rich source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are important to protect the body from free radical damage. Vitamins A, C and E in nettle provide a rich source of antioxidants. There is overwhelming research evidence that high levels of antioxidants, consumed daily, protect against cataracts, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and slow the ageing process. Vitamin A is essential for protein digestion, fighting infection and for building the immune system. Vitamin C protects against excessive acidity in the body. Vitamin C is often called the youth vitamin and as we age we require an additional intake. 400 I.U. of vitamin E is the minimum daily level for effective health care. Eating nettles regularly will boost vitamin E intake. Nettle is a good source of vitamin D. Vitamin D is vital for muscular function, the nervous and glandular systems and is of paramount importance in regulating all vitamin and mineral metabolism, including the absorption of calcium. Nettle is a valuable K vitamin provider, essential to good function of the circulatory system, heart, liver, and the process of blood coagulation. Nettle is a supreme herb for its rich mineral content: calcium and magnesium for bone building; potassium that combines with iron to transport oxygen to the cells, and elimination of toxic wastes; phosphorous to stimulate brain cells; chlorine to aid digestion; sulphur to build strong nerves, assist oxygen transportation, and purify blood; copper to protect the lungs from infection; and silica (in a readily absorbable form) an extremely important mineral for cell rejuvenation.


Dandelion
 rich source of  Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, E a great source of Minerals like calcium, chromium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, selenium, silicon, zinc
We use it as  diuretic, laxative, choleretic, tonic, stomachic, antioxidant, hepatic, alterative, aperient, anti-inflammatory, cholagogue




Oregano
  rich natural source of vitamin K, an important vitamin that is often overlooked ,contains thymol and carvacrol, two oils which have remarkable bacteria-fighting power.Thymol and an acid called rosmarinic are potent antioxidants that oregano offers.Oregano is high in iron, manganese, and other important minerals for health. It is also rich in fiber (the amount is similar to chicory). Fiber is necessary to provide bulk for better elimination and it is a natural source of Omega-3 fatty acids !!!



Verbena
 protect your muscles, reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, calm the stomach, reduce fevers, soothe nerves, and clear up congestion


Thyme
 Antiseptic, antispasmodic, tonic and carminative. Thyme is an excellent source of vitamin C (75% of the daily recommended value), vitamin A (27%), fiber (16 %), riboflavin, iron (27%), copper, and manganese (24%), 11% each in calcium and manganese, and doses of vitamin B6, folate, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc as well.Volatile oils in thyme include carvacolo, borneol, geraniol, and most importantly thymol, with powerful antiseptic and antibacterial properties that have also been shown to have antimicrobial activity against a host of different bacteria and fungi, including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, E. coli, and the deadly Shigella sonnei



Calendula
contains chemicals, which have been shown in animal studies to speed up wound-healing by several actions that include increasing blood flow to the affected area and promoting the production of collagen proteins. Calendula also possesses anti-septic and anti-inflammatory effects due to its flavonoid content. In mouthwashes and gargles, calendula soothes sore throat or mouth tissue. Calendula  has some anti-infective properties, particularly against fungal infections and against viruses.



Dittany
It has anticonvulsive effect on the humans and it will strengthen the heart muscles and the arteries, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack in humans The tea of Dittany, which is extremely rich in active components work as a wonder during the menstrual cramps as it relieves the pain and eases the stomach. The tea is a must in a girl’s kitchen because the menstrual cramps are a nightmare. Moreover, the herbal tea will provide relief from any gastric problems and other stomach related ailments.
The dittany tea can easily cure cough, the only required it that you have to mix it with honey and cinnamon to see the effect of the tea.
Brewing a cup of dittany tea will help your skin to a great extent as it has anti-aging properties. You can also mitigate the cellulite if you drink the dittany tea on a regular basis.  Mint
 This herb is an excellent source of minerals like potassium, calcium, iron, manganese and magnesium. 100 g fresh herb provides 569 mg of potassium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese and copper works as co-factors for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide-dismutase.Further, it is rich in many antioxidant vitamins, including vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin-C and vitamin E. The leaves of mint also contain many important B-complex vitamins like folates, riboflavin and pyridoxine (vitamin B-6); and the herb is an excellent source of vitamin-K. The mint herb contains no cholesterol; however, it is rich in essential oils, vitamins and dietary fiber, which helps to control blood cholesterol and blood pressure inside the human body.


Basil
 Basil leaves hold many notable plant derived chemical compounds that are known to have disease preventing and health promoting properties. Contains many polyphenolic flavonoids like orientin and vicenin. These compounds were tested in-vitro laboratory for their possible anti-oxidant protection against radiation-induced lipid per-oxidation in mouse liver.Basil leaves compose of several health benefiting essential oils such as eugenol, citronellol, linalool, citral, limonene and terpineol. These compounds are known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.The herb is very low in calories and contain no cholesterol. Nonetheless, its is one of the finest sources of many essential nutrients, minerals, and vitamins that are required for optimum health..Basil herb contains exceptionally high levels of beta-carotene, vitamin A, cryptoxanthin, lutein and zea-xanthin. These compounds help act as protective scavengers against oxygen-derived free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a role in aging and various disease processes.Zea-xanthin, a yellow flavonoid carotenoid compound, is selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea where it found to filter harmful UV rays from reaching the retina. Studies suggest that common herbs, fruits, and vegetables that are rich in zea-xanthin anti-oxidant help to protect from age-related macular disease (AMRD), especially in the elderly..100 g of fresh herb basil leaves contain astoundingly 5275 mg or 175% of daily required doses of vitamin A. Vitamin A is known to have antioxidant properties and is essential for vision. It is also required for maintaining healthy mucusa and skin.
