Το πρωτο σαββατοκυριακο του Δεκεμβριου του 2018 πραγματοποιηθηκε η δευτερη Εκθεση του Επισημου Yorkshire Canary Club της Ελλαδος. Μια επιτυχημενηΕκθεση που στεγαστηκε σε ενα απο τα ωραιοτερα μερη της Αθηνας,στο Πολυχωρο του Ιδρυματος Σταυρος Νιαρχος. Η αιθουσα ηταν προσιτη στο κοινο και παρουσιασε πολυ μεγαλη επισκεψιμοτητα σε ανθρωπους ολων των ηλικιων. Ο Κριτης επιλεχθηκε απο τα μελη του club να ειναι απο την Ιρλανδια και ο David O'Keefe ηταν ο εκλεκτος. Πολυπειρος εκτροφεας,εμπειρος Κριτης και πολυνικης, ο David μας κερδισε απο τη πρωτη στιγμη. Η δε κριση του ηταν εξαιρετικη εαν λαβουμε υποψιν το κορυφαιο επιπεδο των yorkshire του Club. Περισσοτερα απο 250 κορυφαια πουλια διαγωνιστηκαν κανοντας το εργο του Κριτη δυσκολο. Τα βραβεια στους νικητες απενειμε ο Επιτιμος Προεδρος του Επιμελητηριου Πειραιως και Προεδρος της Νησιωτικης Ευρωπης Κος Μπενετος Γεωργιος.
Θα θελαμε να εκφρασουμε την ευγνωμοσυνη μας στον David O'Keefe ο οποιος εδωσε ενα σημαντικο ποσο στο Club για αγορα Εκθεσιακων κλουβιων.
Θα θελαμε επισης να ευχαριστησουμε τους συμμετεχοντες στην Εκθεση, ολα τα μελη του Club και τους εκτροφεις που μας επισκεφτηκαν.

The official Yorkshire Canary Club of Greece organized the second annual Show the first weekend of the last December. The members of the club decided that they wanted for our show an Irish judge (last year we invited English judges). . David O'Keefe accepted our invitation to visit our country and judge our Show. Because of the bad weather only 23 members compete while more than 250 fine quality yorkshires were on the bench. An excellent show that public had the chance to visit it and admire top quality yorkshires. The committee of the Club took the permission from the authorities to use a fantastic Hall in Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Alot of people from diferent ages visited our show. It was a nice feeling when we saw children asking information about canaries and everybody knows that their interest is real and authentic.
The presence of the President of Greek Chamber and President of INSELEUR (European Union), Mr George Benetos ,was a nice surprise and a great honor for our club!
The judge of the Show offered a big amount to our club for buying Show cages.
The committee and the members of the club want to say a big "thank you" to a real gentleman of our fancy and a great judge, David O'Keefe.
The report of our show from David O'Keefe:
"When I got the invite to judge the YCC Greece in Athens, I was delighted to say the least. Having spoke to others about the show, i was assured I would be made very welcome
there. I got to know some of the committee at our show in Waterford and Kilkenny the previous Year so I wasn’t concerned. Greece is known as the birthplace of democracy and the committee of the Greek YCC showed they could put on a great show in an organized fashion without much dispute.
The showhall was in a public park where the public can enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, football and many other games. The hall itself was light and spacious with enough room to accommodate more than 200 birds. What was pleasing to me was the public came
in to see the birds in their droves after judging. You never know that some of those youngsters might be encouraged to take up the hobby later on.
I was at the hall early so I had a quick look around. I’ve noticed in the past some judges do this to get a feel for the quality of exhibits. I was genuinely surprised of how many good birds there was available to judge. This of course is due to the hard work of these dedicated breeders.
As I went through the classes I noticed many of the second placed birds were of good quality
so were hard to ignore.I held them till the final judgment.Nearly all the birds were unflighted which again is testimony to the skill these breeders have in producing good quality birds in large numbers.
In the end Vasilis Doykas came out with top honors with an outstanding greenmarked yellow hen. He also took 2nd 4th and 6th best with a clear yellow cock and hen and clear buff cock.His birds are a credit to him,
exhibiting excellent feather and position.
Giorgio’s Laskidis had a great team of birds claiming 3rd and 7th best, most notable being a beautiful marked yellow cock retaining good type and position.
Finally Konstantinos Giannelis got 5th best, a high quality green buff cock with a nice clean line from beak to tail. In fact all the top 7 were judged with only small margins between them, and all displaying the carrot shape we desire when observed from waist height.
The hard working show secretary Antonis Michaloudis claimed best white in show.

The first night I arrived I was taken out to a seafood restaurant and dined with the
committee. It was great to get to know them.A good night was had by all.
From the hotel to their kind hospitality I couldn’t fault them. I hope Vasilis thanked his wife for the tea which I’ve really enjoyed. I also enjoyed helping Theotokis pick his team for the World Show. I’d like to thank Panus,Antonis,and Giorgos for bringing me to the Parthenon which
was one of the highlights of my visit. It was also nice to spend some time with Antonis
Sunday morning down at the harbor talking club matters over a cup of coffee.
And finally Giorgos for lifts to and from the airport, nothing was to much trouble for him.
With such a strong committee the Greek YCC has a bright future and long May it last."
