Banding canaries, How to put the rings!

The need of the breeder to identify and recognize his birds for him and for the Shows, leaded him to put rings to his birds.The name of the breeder, the country, the club, the ID number of the bird, the year of breeding are written on  the rings. Canary banding is easy if you follow the instructions. Normally between fifth and sixth day is the ideal period for banding but it depends on the bird.First of all you must put the three front toes in the ring and then try to pass the fourth one until you can catch it and remove it to pass the whole ring. You can also lube the leg with oil or a cream to make banding easier. The photo and the video will help you to understand the banding. I suggest you to check the rings for one or two days just to be sure that the hen allowed this kind of material on her baby's leg. Good luck
